Choose the writing jobs you want

Oftentimes when you start off freelance writing, you think of all the awesome possibilities that could be out there for you. But, in reality, there aren't as many out there as you might think. There are certainly hundreds of writing jobs that are needed, but many times they aren't what you're expecting. It isn't always going to be blogs that clients need or even articles that they need, sometimes you'll run into the least thought of pieces such as letters, campaign letters, fundraising letters, and more. I've written pretty much everything from short romance ebooks as a ghostwriter to erotic short stories along with dating site bios, adult pieces, phone sex operator bios, and so much more. Why? Well for one thing, and I'll say it again, being a freelance writer is slow to start, but once you build up some clientele you can keep yourself busier and busier equalling more extra money in your pocket. If you write that love letter for Susie, maybe she'l...

Living off the Grid, While Keeping Your Sanity

While living off the grid might sound easy, it really isn't as easy as you would think. As I look outside and see the 5 foot of snow we have and the ½ mile I have to walk to get to my vehicle, I shudder at the word easy. In this case, easy and simple have two completely different meanings to me. Why would we want to expose ourselves to this way of life? Well, because it is a simpler way of life even if it's not an easier way. We left behind the fast-paced big city life several years ago, and have been surviving this way since then. No electricity (except for what our generator gives us), and no running water. Where we live, doesn't even have an address for mail, not yet at least. We do have an outhouse and believe me when I say it's cold out there in the winter time, we are in the Northern United States, after all. But, we love it, and wouldn't change anything right now. Our bellies are full, and our pets are happy, and so are we most of the time. Do...
My freelancing journey began many years ago, and I'm still on it. I wanted to make this blog for those that are just beginning on their journey as a freelance writer. While you will not become rich overnight, you will still have some extra spending money in your pocket and bank account. The one thing that freelancers expect is to make good money at it. Sure, this can happen, but you have to be able to discipline yourself to do that.  There are several and I do mean several freelance platforms online for writers, editors, copywriters, bloggers and more. You just have to know which ones to join. I'm a member of a few and do make substantial money on some of them, but that is not always the case. I recently just compared the number of jobs that I've had on one platform that I had been a member of for several years, as opposed to one that I have only been on for around a year or so. I was surprised to see that I had triple the number of jobs on the newer one than the older o...
