Choose the writing jobs you want
Oftentimes when you start off freelance writing, you think of all the awesome possibilities that could be out there for you. But, in reality, there aren't as many out there as you might think. There are certainly hundreds of writing jobs that are needed, but many times they aren't what you're expecting. It isn't always going to be blogs that clients need or even articles that they need, sometimes you'll run into the least thought of pieces such as letters, campaign letters, fundraising letters, and more.
I've written pretty much everything from short romance ebooks as a ghostwriter to erotic short stories along with dating site bios, adult pieces, phone sex operator bios, and so much more. Why? Well for one thing, and I'll say it again, being a freelance writer is slow to start, but once you build up some clientele you can keep yourself busier and busier equalling more extra money in your pocket. If you write that love letter for Susie, maybe she'll know someone that needs some writing done. Word of mouth is a freelance writer's best friend, think of the domino effect.
Choosing what you feel comfortable writing is all on you. If you want to start off with captions for photos, go for it. As you build up your confidence, take on more complicated pieces if you feel you can, but don't forget the little guys like letters and such, they aren't going to write themselves and if you can make a quick few bucks in between longer jobs, hell, go for it!
Remember, this world was built by the little man, and there are still little things out there that need your help.
